"No one told me that being in your 40s could feel like waking up inside someone else's body — someone you don't recognize and definitely didn't consent to becoming."

— Franky Wilder, MENOPOSSY™

Why this book exists

Because too many women are told they are stressed when they are actually under-informed.

Because "normal labs" does not always explain a body that feels unfamiliar.

Because nobody warned us that perimenopause could arrive as rage, insomnia, brain fog, body grief, career fallout, libido changes, and a total identity rupture.

Because clinical language without lived reality is not enough. And self-help fluff without physiology is not enough either.

MENOPOSSY™ is the missing middle: one woman's story, written for the millions who have been quietly wondering:

"What the hell is happening to me?"

From the Book

Prologue: From Frustrated to Fuck It

Third time's a charm.
I just got fired.
Again.
Three jobs in three years.
Let that sink in.
It has been only a short while since my last exodus. Roughly a year since I started HRT. Almost a decade since perimenopause began.
On paper, it makes no sense.
I'm 49 years old.
Stanford-trained.
Two decades in high-stakes tech and strategy.
From the outside, it could look like I'm the common denominator.
From the inside, I know better now.
This isn't a story about incompetence. It's a story about what happens when a woman's biology begins collapsing inside systems that were never designed for her.
I didn't know that the first time.
Or the second.
I didn't know what was happening to me. I just knew I was disappearing.

Piece by piece — my clarity, my energy, my patience, my sense of self — slipped through my fingers like fog I couldn't hold onto long enough to name.
I felt enraged. Sad. Disconnected.
Lonely and unseen in a room full of people.
Numb, but also on fire.
A woman unraveling in plain sight while everyone around her kept calling it stress.

I was told it was anxiety. Depression. Maybe ADHD. Maybe a sleep disorder.
I was given pills. Therapy. More pills.
None of it explained the soul-deep erosion I was experiencing.
No one mentioned perimenopause.
No woman I knew even whispered the word.
NO ONE.
No one told me that being in your 40s could feel like waking up inside someone else's body — someone you don't recognize and definitely didn't consent to becoming.
That it could feel like a hormonal hostage situation with no negotiator and no manual.
That I'd be soaking through sheets at night, sobbing in my car, screaming into the steering wheel, or drinking just to stop feeling everything — or worse, to stop caring that I didn't feel anything at all.
That your nervous system could get so fried that your partner asking what's for dinner feels like a home invasion.
That you could still close deals, lead meetings, send competent emails — while Googling early-onset dementia and chronic fatigue syndrome at two in the morning and wondering if anyone around you could tell something fundamental was breaking.
There were days and nights I didn't want to die.
I just didn't give a shit if I did.
And I didn't want to keep living like that, either.
That's the part women almost never say out loud. So I'll say it for us.

Next chapter: The Rage Is Real.

This book is for the woman who knows something changed.

The Dismissed

You were told it was stress, anxiety, aging, or "just life."

Maybe some of that was true. But you knew it was not the whole story.

The High-Performer

You kept performing competence.

You answered emails, led meetings, managed everyone else's needs, and quietly wondered why you were disappearing.

The Searcher

You needed something that could hold both.

Medical pages with no pulse. Self-help posts with no rigor. You needed the biology and the breakdown.

What you'll find inside

This is not a menopause manual. It's a translation.

Midlife rage without the shame filter.

Brain fog that threatens the identity of smart women.

The grief of feeling foreign in your own body.

The workplace cost of symptoms women are expected to hide.

The medical dismissal loop: stress, anxiety, prescriptions, and incomplete answers.

The second prime: what becomes possible after the breakdown gets language.

The book tells the story. MENOPOSSY.com extends the conversation with evidence-aware education, protocols, and the free chat Companion referenced throughout the book.

MENOPOSSY™ is Franky Wilder's personal story — a memoir about perimenopause, misdiagnosis, rage, identity, work, and reinvention.

It is not a protocol.

It is not a clinical guide.

It is not a hormone therapy recommendation.

It is not ten gentle steps to becoming your best midlife self.

It is not medical advice.

It is not a diagnosis.

It is not a treatment plan.

It is a memoir.

A raw, lived, researched, deeply personal account of what happens when a woman is told she is fine while her life, body, work, and identity are telling a different story.

For the story that makes women feel less alone, read the book.

You were not supposed to decode this alone.

If you have been blaming yourself for the fog, the rage, the insomnia, the exhaustion, the body changes, the anxiety, or the feeling that you disappeared inside your own life — this book is for you.

Not because it diagnoses you.
Because it gives language to the thing too many women were left to survive in silence.
